Meet the Bitter Chick Boss
I'm a single mom of 3, though my "kids" are all adults now, with the support of my family, I pretty much raised my kids on my own since my youngest was 4 years old. During this time, I went to college and graduate school while living and being a burden on my parents. The struggle was real... the psychological effects of financial and emotional stress I had and placed on my family were huge obstacles to just get through every day. My children were facing their own traumas, but I did a great job hiding everything from everyone outside of my immediate family. My goal was to get my degree, have a career and be able to take care of my kids and my parents.
School for me was not easy, at one point I had one kid in elementary school, one in middle school and one in high school while I was in graduate school studying clinical psychology. Every step of the way was a struggle...
Fast forward past a few heartbreaks, family losses, lots of therapy, the list goes on and on... Bitter Chick was born!
It all started with my Bitter_Chick Instagram account. A place where I was able to say what I felt without having to worry what my friends and family would think about me.
Usually I would say, who cares what people think? But sometimes I just needed to vent and let shit out without thinking about that.
To me, someone who likes to keep some things to myself (depending on who you ask), it was very therapeutic to have the luxury of getting shit off my mind by posting as Bitter Chick.
So while my posts started with my anger, sadness and bitterness about some sucky relationships, they grew into posts about work and my fight with breast cancer and the psychological effects that came with it.
Eventually I started to open up my dark side, and invite few people to my Bitter_Chick Instagram profile.
After some positive (and some angry, mostly from the person most of my posts were targeted at) feedback, I realized that I'm not the only person going through this shit!
My intentions with Bitter Chick is to empower women and girls to take a stand for their experiences and use their anger, sadness, anxiousness and bitterness as fuel to move forward, full force.
We have to use our voices and stop being quiet!
Let's encourage each other. Not all are able to do things on their own, but if we support each other, we can be stronger.
